Kabul, Afghanistan: Plans to construct a coldstore for agricultural products at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, have been approved, according to a report in the Wadsam Afghan Business News.

According to the paper, the deputy director of the Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority, Shah Mahmood Habibi said that the new site would have a storage capacity of 70 to 100 tonnes, and would cover more than 1,760 square meters. The coldstore will be constructed inside the airport’s customs office.

There are plans to construct similar facilities at Herat, Balkh and Kandahar airports, said the official. At a meeting with Afghan government ministries, Habibi said the coldstore construction would help Afghan exports.
