The Environment
The mission of the Cool Chain Association (CCA) is to improve the global transportation and handling of perishables and temperature sensitive products for the benefit of consumers and supply chain participants. The CCA recognizes that the energy required in both producing and distributing products such as fresh produce, can contribute to total global carbon emissions.
However, the CCA also believes that reducing waste at any point within the total distribution chain can also reduce unnecessary carbon emissions and it therefore actively supports the development of its Cool Chain Quality Indicators (CCQI) as the recognized industry standard. The Cool Chain Association will also promote the use of energy efficient equipment and technologies which help to conserve energy.
