The Cool Chain Association is pleased to bring a combined Pharma and Perishables event to the Dallas Fort Worth region in association with Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
Fruit, flowers and vegetables were among the first commodities carried by air as a way to minimize product damage and devaluation caused by rapid natural ripening processes. Air transport helped protect against adverse changes in temperature and humidity that expedited these ripening processes. Now, airlines are increasingly effective at shipping perishables by using cost-conscious, innovative handling techniques.
These advances in handling were instrumental in the growth of pharmaceuticals and biologics shipping, which has become a sophisticated logistics sector that moves over $1 trillion (USD) of goods per year. Temperature maintenance and monitoring of these healthcare products while en route provides greater assurances to shippers and buyers of product integrity, and decreases the exposure of shippers, forwarders and handlers to liability.
DFW Airport is currently working with cool chain logistics partners to develop state-of-the-art temperature-controlled facilities and handling services. DFW’s objective is to provide reliable product integrity when shippers, forwarders, and buyers move their products throughout the Americas, and between the Americas and Asia, Europe, the Middle East, or any other region of the world.
