CCA Americas Event 2019

The Cool Chain Event for
Pharma & Perishables in The Americas

18-20 November in Los Angeles, USA

Safeguarding product quality and integrity, practical solutions to maintaining the Cool Chain and collaboration are all essential within a people-profit-planet ecosystem.

Our Cool Chain Industry has responsibilities to all stakeholders in the value chain to ensure product integrity. From producer on the farm to the retail store and from the pharma factory to the infant in Africa needing a life-saving vaccine.

The business landscape is rapidly changing, with new technology bringing new opportunities, and evolving consumer and customer demands. At the same time, there is a pressing need for us to address sustainability issues, from better caring for our environment, to ensuring a responsible and healthy future for our industry and for the people we rely on it from, first - to final mile.

At our last CCA Americas Event on 18-20 November at the beautiful “The Belamar” hotel at Manhattan Beach in Los Angeles (CA), the delegates and speakers learned from each other, collaborated, initiated new projects to innovate, digitalise and share data to embrace the people-profit-planet framework and drive sustainable development for the Cool Chain.

09:30Working together for Sustainable Development
The business landscape is rapidly changing, with new technology bringing new opportunities, and evolving consumer and customer demands. At the same time, there is a pressing need for cool chain stakeholders to address sustainability issues, from better caring for our environment, to ensuring a responsible and healthy future for our industry, and for the people who rely on it from first, to final mile.
With Richard Owen, Produce Marketing Association  and Stavros Evangelakakis, Cargolux
10:00The Shippers’ Perspective
What challenges do they face and what do they need ?
Pharmaceuticals and perishables shippers both face sustainability challenges but what are the main issues they face and what do they need from cool chain stakeholders to move shipments more efficiently. Temperature excursions on the tarmac are a major challenge for pharma shippers, while food loss resulting from damaged goods is equally as much of a problem for perishables shippers. Is there a need for more investment in cool chain infrastructure? What role could the introduction of new legislation play in future? Can the use of the latest technology play an important part in improving the movement of pharma and perishables shipments?
With Xavier Ripoll, Able Freight - Tom Shepherd, Driscoll’s and Richard Owen, Produce Marketing Association
11:15Coffee & Networking
11:30Innovation and New Ideas
The implementation of innovative and viable sustainable  solutions is shaping the future of the cool chain and will  continue to impact the future for all stakeholders. New technology is helping drive sustainability across the cool chain but are there any barriers to new innovations being implemented? Are there any fresh new ideas?
With Eric Mauroux, Air France KLM - Gary Sze, Cathay Pacific Cargo -  Adam Barrington-Spencer, Aerotuf - Jeremy Schneider, Controlant and Tom Wall, Coldkart
12:30Networking Lunch
14:00Data-sharing & Transparency
Cool Supply Chains like for pharmaceuticals or perishables are complex, but if all stakeholders share data about the movement and condition of shipments it can help reduce costs, improve efficiency and ensure temperature excursions are kept to a minimum. How can every part of the supply chain benefit from the sharing of data? What are stability budgets and degree-hours? Is every stakeholder on board with sharing data? Everybody is looking for transparency, but do you dare to be transparent ?
With Edwin Kalischnig, Xtreme Technologies - Sacha Uhlmann, Modum - Orlando Wong, Able Freight
15:30Coffee & Networking
15:45Standard and Certification, Community Approach,  Trade Lanes & Products Management
