The perishable market is an interesting area to be active in for all logistics service providers, it is also important that quality and efficiency is maintained throughout the whole supply chain. This puts pressure on the logistics service providers to reduce waste, increase efficiency, become transparent and reduce costs.

Air carriers have already seen a shift towards sea freight and have to innovate and improve performance in order to adapt to these changes and keep consumers around the world happy.

During the CCA conference in Miami we will hear the view of the shipper, the forwarder and the airline on how we can improve the perishable air cargo supply chain. Since Miami is an important hub for perishables from Latin America we will also have the views from different logistics service providers in this important growing market.

Cool Chain Association

The CCA is a non-profit organization, founded in 2003, with the aim of synchronizing the cool supply chain in order to improve the quality of perishables and temperature sensitive products (PTSP) and thus prolong their shelf life and reduce wastage. Presently, approximately 30% of harvested fresh products decay due to incorrect handling and mistakes in the cold chain. As a result, the CCA and its members with the certification experts Germanischer Lloyd created the cold chain logistics quality standard, the Cool Chain Quality Indicator (CCQI). This standard is the first ever attempt to set standards for the entire logistic industry in the handling of PTSP and covers the complete cool chain from production to retail store shelf.
